Lizzie - School Days

She has definitely adjusted well to her new school.

Fun Run

This is the annual (and thankfully only) fundraiser at Carolyn's school .....A Fun Run.

Steve and I said we would match anything she collected.  She asked a few of you to donate (THANK YOU) and she even took $9 out of her own piggy bank to give to her school. Altogether, she (and we) donated quite a bit toward our school.  I guess it is worth it because 100% of the money raised goes toward an extra science program, an arts program, and all of the technology in the school.

Great Basin

Another weekend, another camping trip.  I guess we have become campers....  This time, the destination was to Great Basin National Park.  We saw Lehman Caves and did a hike to see the 3000 year old bristlecone pine trees.  Of course, there were plenty of shenanigans with our friends as well.

After driving through the wide openness and desolation of a desert, you approach a tall mountain full of life.  Great Basin is like an island in the middle of the barren desert

Our campsite was along a stream.

We made some delicious food over the campfire, and before leaving on Sunday morning, Michelle introduced us to the Peacock family tradition -- a pancake flip-off. Pancakes were flying high and far over our campsite. The goal was to catch it on your plate.

Lizzie likes learning

That is what she told me the other night.

Here she is at work in her new classroom.  I think she has adjusted well.

Children's Theater - Carolyn performance

Carolyn did a summer camp with Utah Children's Theater. Here are some photos and short videos of their performances. They have to create a play and perform it 5 days later. She was a fairy, a shopkeeper, a maid, and an attendee at the ball. Lots of costume changes. Lots of lines. Lots of songs and dances.

How did I forget to post these? Maui trip

In July, there were 7 women who went to Maui for a week. No husbands. No kids. So much fun. Our friend Carrie invited all of us to spend a week at her family's house on Maui. We went boating, paddle boarded, kayaked, swam, laughed, and occasionally pinched ourselves for being so lucky to have been given this friendship and opportunity.

I met these women the night before I gave birth to Lizzie. They are an important part of my life and sanity.

Visitors, camping

Jen and pierce are our most frequent visitors.... even though they haven't been out to visit for a few years (visiting us now that we have the chaos of two kids is not as easy).

It was so nice.to see them, and we enjoyed a night camping in Albion Basin.

Elizabeth accomplished her first hike of any distance on her own feet.  She walked without being held going up or down to cecret lake from our campsite.  It wasn't a terribly long or difficult hike, but this definitely  marks a new Era of hiking for our family.
