Dear Santa,

I want an American Girl doll, and my sister would like a fuzzy blanket.

Love, Lizzie

Fall Break Backpacking Trip

Carolyn can be the most absent-minded person around, but when she puts her mind to something and decides she wants to do something, the results are pretty spectacular.

This trip was one of those times where she excelled.

She decided she wanted to go on the fall-break backpacking trip with the Girl Scouts.  She signed up without knowing anyone else going. She was the youngest one of the group. She had never backpacked before, but hauled a 30-pound pack over 25 miles on this three-night trip to Southern Utah.  And, she loved it.

It is nice to see her in her element.

Art in the City

Salt Lake has been putting public exhibits of art around the city, including these electrical boxes covered with the artwork done by elementary school students.  We finally found where Indian Hills' box was, and when we got out to take a photo of it, Carolyn discovered that one of her pieces was on the side of the box.

Pointing to the hot cocoa cup she drew in 4th grade.

So much to be thankful for ....

Spending thanksgiving with my family in centerville is always fun, and reminds me of all the things I have to be thankful for.... the people in these photos are at the top of my thankful list!  I wish we were able to see the Altman family this year too.
