Camping

The girls and I went on a short one-night alpine camping trip to Redman in Big Cottonwood Canyon with a few other families.  (Steve was in Sweden)

Then, all four of us went down south for the weekend to a spot in the desert that we have been to several other times.  It is close to Goblin Valley state park, and between two sandstone cliffs leading to Little Wild Horse Canyon.  What a magical place it is! And how nice it was to share with two other families we have known since Carolyn's day care days.

This is a luxurious sand spa.

The kids were sitting around the campfire and talking about how this is the best playground ever.
So many places to play hide-n-seek and to climb and jump and explore.

Steve's Birthday

Another rotation around the sun.  Another birthday.

As a tradition, we made him a zwetch-kuchen (plum cake).
It only gets made once a year, when we harvest a boatload of plums from our tree.

Nothing better than your "old" friends...

Make New Friends, But Keep the Old!

Lizzie has adjusted well and is thriving in her new school, but she definitely misses her "old" Montessori friends.  Ava & Akasha.  The other night, both girls came over.  Carolyn set up a spa for them and did their fingers and toes while the three little girls all talked about their new schools.
