Easter 2009

Ah, look at our cute little bunny.

Grandma Lynn and Grandpa Mike were here for Carolyn's first Easter. Carolyn loved all of the attention. Grandpa followed her around, no matter where she crawled. And, Grandma helped her learn how to better use her sippy cup. She particularly liked the hat and sunglasses they brought for her.

We went to a sunrise Easter service on the top of the mountain. It was cold and the visibility was pretty poor (we were in the clouds), but I think my parents were pretty excited to be on the top of the mountain (and to be able to get there by tram, rather than hiking).

In the evening, we had friends over. Both the kids and the adults had an easter egg hunt. Steve and my mom spent all day (literally) writing a personalized scavenger hunt for each guest. It was pretty funny to see grown adults run through the yard to find their eggs. We also had another food challenge. This time, it was the great panini cookoff. The overall winner was Nikki, who made a pineapple coconut poundcake treat. Other notable entries included: fried catfish with slaw, lox on potato latkes, roasted veggie paninis, the classic italian panini, grilled cheese, meatball/sausage panini, and BBQ tempeh on baguette. My mom won the award for 'originality' with her reuben sandwich in the shape of a bunny. I think it was the easter basket made out of a pepper and the cheeseball tail that really won it for her.

MILESTONE: The Easter Bunny brought Carolyn her first two teeth. After a particularly fitful night, I found two tiny points that had popped through her gums.

She probably cut those 2 teeth after looking at my bunny pannini. That was a great party idea. I just might have to copy it.
