UH OH, she is an escape artist

If you have ever seen her in action on a playground, you would have been surprised that she did not do this before .... last night, the night of her 2nd birthday, she escaped from her crib. She came down and asked us if she could sleep in "mama's bed." Knowing that there was nothing we could do to contain her at 330 in the morning, we let her curl up with us and decided we would deal with it tomorrow. Ugh. Bedtime is hard enough for this girl. I have a feeling that we are going to be seeing a lot of this little bird in the middle of the night.

UPDATE - on the second night of her second year of life - we opened the crib up so she could walk out, but we put the gate on her door. You guessed it, she easily climbed over the gate and came down to see us again.

UPDATE - on the fourth night, she stayed in her bed the whole night. At around 3 am, she called for us, but never left her bed. When I went up to her, she said "do not leave bed until sun is awake" and then she curled up and went back to sleep after I covered her up with a blanket

UPDATE - on nights 5 and 6, she went to bed well, and slept through the night well. Though, she woke up around 545 each morning and came downstairs. To her credit, that is when the sun wakes up around here. We just walked her back upstairs and put her back in bed and she gladly went back to sleep.

UPDATE - on night seven, I almost had a heart attack. I thought we had our first successful night where she went to bed without a fuss, slept through the night without a single fuss, and stayed in her bed the whole night. But when I went to wake her up this morning, she was NOT in her crib. PANIC. I went back downstairs and found her soundly asleep curled up on the couch with Leo..... at least she did not wake us up in the middle of the night.

UPDATE - nights eight, nine, ten were all successful. She woke up in her own bed. Night eleven, however, we found a little girl in our bed when we woke up. Getting better, but not perfect.
