Potty Training

It is official. We are starting the process of potty-training.

She is now fully transitioned into the new classroom at school, so she will be encouraged to use the potty there. I figure I better get more consistent at home too. So, last night, we went to Target to buy some "undie-pants." She told me that she needed them because that is what the big kids in her class were wearing instead of diapers. Oh, she picked out some with Dora and then insisted that she needed the Mickey Mouse diapers, even though they were boy briefs.

This week during school she went pee on the toilet almost every time there was a potty break, but that does not necessarily mean that her diapers were dry. Today was her first day in underwear. She did fantastic, until about 4pm when she had her first accident. She had walked upstairs to get something and I heard her start crying. When I asked her what was wrong, she said, "I peed in my dora pants." She was so upset. We put on a fresh pair of undies and went back to our business. About an hour later, she had another accident. Then it was time to poop. For that, she pulled down her pants and took a crap on the grass. At least, she took down her pants and announced that she was pooping (I take that as a positive sign). After those three accidents all in the span of an hour she came up to me with a diaper and said, "Mama, I need a diaper. I ruin my undie pants." So I gave her a break from the "undie pants" for a while and put a diaper on her. However, when we were getting ready for bed, her diaper was completely dry and she peed a lot in the potty. She often wakes up dry in the morning.

Ah, I have a feeling that it wont be, but let's hope the process is smooth and quick. I can dream, right?
