A Day of Firsts

First day of work for Steve. He started his position as a Sales Engineer at FL Smidth today. No more working from home, he now has to dress up and drive into an office. He was so excited.

First official day of the "school year" for Carolyn at the Montessori Community School. She will be in the red classroom with Ms. Kerry and Ms. Sheila. It is a mixed-age room with 3, 4, and 5 year olds. Today, she met her new teachers, explored her new classroom, and found the cubbie with her name on it.

First day of school for me, too. Today, I started teaching my courses for the 2011-2012 academic year at the University of Utah. It is hard to believe that I have had more than 30 first days of school in my life. It may be a fairly common and normal occurrence for me, but one that is always filled with anticipation and excitement.

Ah. A good day in our house.
To celebrate, we are meeting for dinner and going to the zoo.
