Summer Camp 2018

Both girls went to girl scout camp this summer.  Each camp is about an hour away.
Cloud Rim has the lake and waterfront activities, and Trefoil has the horses, archery, and ropes course.  Both are quite beautiful.

Carolyn went with a friend named Parley to Camp Cloud Rim. They did the "midnight mania" camp where they stayed up late, did lots of evening activities after dinner, and slept in late.  Her favorite activity was boat tag, as long as she was on a paddle board.

Lizzie went for a "mini" camp, just 3 days, with her friend Akasha.  This was her first time away at camp, without Carolyn or one of us with her.  When we picked her up she said she wanted to stay for a whole week  next year.  She was at Trefoil Ranch. Her favorite activity was sleeping outside on the bridge of the bell tower.

As the girls were packing up and getting ready to go, Lizzie wanted to be just like Carolyn and put on her hiking shoes.  The shoes are a little big for her and are quite heavy and clunky, but they were fine for a second pair of shoes.  Problem was ... she forgot to repack her gym shoes in her bag.  She remembered when we got out of the car and was going to change into the more comfortable shoes.  Oof!

Oh, and bummer!  Steve and I had planned to go on a little getaway, somewhere close, while both girls were at camp.  Instead, we spent the time at home, as he recovered from a surgery to fish out a chipped off bone spur in his elbow.  Surgery was not too bad, according to him, and we got to watch plenty of movies together in our quite, kid-free home.

I worry a little because he cut his arm out of the cast after only a few days.  According to him, it was too hot and uncomfortable, and he wasn't able to ice it with the cast on.  He continues to protect the arm, so hopefully, it is all healed up. Though, I do wonder what his doc is going to say when he goes back for his follow-up appt this week......
