Family Photo Challenge (January)
It is not a very flattering picture of any of us, but we are all in the same frame. It was indeed taken during the month of January ... so it counts.
We are at our house, a few minutes after midnight, on New Year's Eve. We said goodbye to our friends a few minutes later, and were all sound asleep by 1230.

Family Photo Challenge
A pretty good photo of all of us, for December 2011. We were at the annual "Pray for Snow Party." Let's hope it works because we have very little snow so far.

Family Photo Challenge
We took a lot of photos of the three of us this month, but they were for our Christmas card. (Stay tuned, you should be getting that one in the mail sooner or later.) Here is one that will not appear on our holiday greetings, but has all three of us in the same frame.

Heredity
Watching your child grow up is pretty cool. I love to see mannerisms or characteristics that resemble me or Steve. I sometimes am so struck by how much Carolyn looks like Steve. Othertimes, I see myself completely when I look at her.
With this installment of the "Family Photo Challenge," I am now wondering whether Carolyn may have inherited Steve's inability to keep his eyes open in photographs. The person who took this photo for us said, "Well, Carolyn and Steve have the exact same expression and closed eyes." Perfect.

Family Photo Challenge, May 2011
During the month of May, we took care of our neighbor's house and cat while she was visting her family in India. In return, we asked her to bring us back some Indian outfits. Here we are, all dressed up. Carolyn and I even had bindis (the marks on our forehead).

12-Month Family Photo Challenge
The photo is blurry, but it is all of us, and that is the only rule of my family photo challenge. We are eating a fine dinner that Steve made for us girls for Valentines Day. Homemade noodles/dumplings, swedish meatballs, roasted carrots, warm spinach salad, and pudding. All of my favorites! He is a good man. I am a lucky girl.

Happy New Year
We all stayed awake until midnight, even Carolyn. However, we were back home and in bed by 1230. We rang in the New Year with our neighbors and friends, Michaela and Martin. She cooked a delicious turkey dinner. The kids ran around and played. A rather uneventful, but fun, evening.

12-Month Family Photo Challenge
Photo taken on Thanksgiving Day in Centerville Ohio. A self-portrait.
I do not think I have missed a month since I have started.
I think I am up to about 8 months now.

Here we are in October of 2010.
The photo was taken at Kim & Nick's Oktoberfest party. (photo by Josh - thanks!)

12-Month Family Photo Challenge
Here is our family photo from September..... it was taken in our workclothes and amidst the construction and progress on the front-of-the-house project.
So, what have we all done? Steve rebuilt the front part of the deck. We are getting a new metal railing. We poured a new concrete planter box and concrete stairs. We are also getting a metal gate and screen to cover the garbage cans. Next spring, we will then landscape the whole front yard, getting rid of most grass. The front of our house has never looked that great, but we are certainly trying to give it a bit more curb appeal.

12-Month Family Photo Challenge
I almost missed last month, but it is only the first week of July and I already have our family photo for July. Here we are in Park City waiting for the fireworks on fourth of july.
Note how we are dressed. We certainly were not prepared for 43 degree weather that greeted us that evening when the sun went down. Who would have known that the temperature could go that low on the fourth of july. It was pretty miserable, but I do not know which is worse -- the near-freezing weather of the mountains or the heat wave that the east coast is currently having?

12-Month Family Photo Challenge
Here we are at the end of the month and still no family photo ... so we had to take a self-portrait in the mirror before Carolyn went to bed.

12-month Challenge
Don't worry, I am not going to review some sort of crazy fitness or culinary challenge that I am going to take on over the next 12 months (Though, I am impressed by some of the challenges that people I know have taken on lately, many reminiscent of "Julia and Julie "or "The Biggest Loser," but I already know that I would fail those) .... instead, my challenge is to take more family photos. I know that most of you who read this blog only want to see Carolyn, but as I was flipping through my photo archives this weekend, I realized that I have very few photos of us as a family. That ought to change.
So here is the challenge that I have given myself - at some point each month, I am going to have someone snap a photo of the three of us. It does not matter where we are, what we are doing, if we are dressed up or down, but it has to include all three of us in the same frame. We might look good, we might look bad; it doesn't really matter. I would just like to document our family through the years. And what better place than the blog.
Here is the first installment of the Altman 12-month Family Photo Challenge. It was taken on May 30th, 2010. We were at the Mihalopoulos' house for a Memorial Day cook-off.
