I guess I am what some call a "baby wearer" .... Elizabeth is often riding around on me, in a sling or some sort of carrier. I love it. When she is in the sling, she is calm and happy, usually napping. I have my hands free, but still get to hold her and hear her little grunts and coos as I go about my normal activities (like cooking, laundry, playing with Carolyn). Yesterday, it was so much easier to walk around the zoo with her in a sling, rather than fight the crowds with a stroller. And, there is so much more room in the grocery cart if I wear her, rather than put her whole car seat in the cart. Plus, when you wear a baby like this, you get a lot of extra attention. Everyone wants to see the tiny baby wrapped up on the mama's chest. (Thankfully the extra attention is directed to her in the bright orange sling, rather than me. Phew, because my hair is rather unkempt and I do not think I have put on makeup for 5 weeks. It is a nice break).
Last night, on her 5 week birthday, Steve and I both commented that we better take a picture of her in the sling because she will never be this tiny again, and because she spends so much time in it that we should probably document that part of her life. Doesn't she just look like a little tiny ball in this sling? This was my favorite carrier for this age for Carolyn, and also for Elizabeth. Once she can hold up her head, I will transition to other slings. Maybe I will take pictures of our other babywearing contraptions.
