Priceless

A knitting book -- $20

A bag full of yarn -- $75

The expression on mom's face when she figured out that we were expecting another baby -- PRICELESS

And, now, one year later, here is the completed project.  Elizabeth wearing her special outfit.

Note: for those who do not know the back story.... last fall, when we found out we were expecting a second child, my mom and dad were out here visiting.  It was also my mom's 60th birthday.  For her gift, we gave her  bag full of fancy yarns and a knitting book.  I replaced the cover of the knitting book with a page that said someting like "For your 60th birthday, we wanted to give you something pretty special.  Turn to page 30 for your gift."  On that page, there was a baby wearing a cute gender-neutral outfit with another messages saying, "What do you think? Can you knit this outfit by May 2012?"  It took her a moment to figure it out, but soon she was overjoyed that she was getting a fourth grandbaby.   Now, a year later, here is the project she knit.  I admit, when I bought the book, I was only looking for a cute outfit that a boy or girl could wear (since we did not yet know the gender).  I did not realize I picked such a difficult pattern for her to make.

So, my apologies, mom.  This project may have exacerbated the arthritis in your wrist.  It is so cute, and so soft, though!!
