Hair

With two girls, we spend a lot of our energy and time on "hair" in our house.

Carolyn insists on having long hair.  She goes through her moments of bursting into tears when she has to brush out the tangles, to asking me to try some sort of crazy, intricate style that she finds on the internet.  At the end of the summer, we had to do some serious work to get her blonde locks back to a normal color.

Lizzie has also had her hair moments recently.  Earlier this summer, I made the conscious decision to let her bangs grow out.  I cannot say they looked good during this process, but they were getting longer and starting to be long enough to be pushed away from her eyes. We were getting past the awkward stage. However, one afternoon, Steve made the hasty decision to chop them off because they were in her eyes.  He literally grabbed the kitchen shears and a hunk of hair around her face.  Snip.  No brushing, no attempt to make a straight cut.  I think Carolyn or Lizzier herself could have done a better job.  I fumed for a day or two, then decided to cut all of her hair in an attempt to even out the chunk he took out.  She now has a short bob with bangs.  It actually looks pretty cute and requires no rubber bands in the morning.  In Steve's words, he "liberated" her from her hair.  The photos show in-order, the awkward growing-out, the cut, and the finished product.
